Comparative Test Results For Xen18 — A Hydrocolloid Wound Adhesive that does not disintegrate in wounds

Whatever you think hydrocolloids are, think again.
Xennovate's patented formulations do not disintegrate with exposure to heavy fluids (exudate), as nearly all other hydrocolloid wound bandages do, even after days of exposure, hence, they are known as integrated adhesives. Our integrated xm18c THIN [15 mils / ~ 0.38 mm] lasts longer than the leading hydrocolloid wound dressing brands at standard thicknesses, as shown in the nearby image of the results

Note that
xm18c, in the middle of the three in the picture nearby, does not break down like the leading brands on either side. Skin adhesion is comparable to the leading competitors, and, combined with superior absorption, enables long wear times without "channeling" fluids onto the bed clothes. Xennovate incorporates alginates, known for their rapid absorption, directly into the adhesive mass, provide outstanding sodium/calcium ion exchange at the wound bed. All ingredients are pharmaceutical or food grade, as designated by the US Government.

Xennovate hydrocolloid wound bandages do not disintegrate when used for treating heavy wound exudates over several days, like the vast majority of competitive hydrocolloid wound dressings do. Xen18 hydrocolloids offer superior durability, peel-ability, and pH balance. Xennovate hydrocolloids are custom formulated for a variety of applications. Key benefits include excellent moist tack, long wear times for better cost effectiveness, fluid stability and skin-friendly (non-irritating ingredients). A wide variety of configurations is available through our manufacturing converter alliance partners, including island patches, gaskets, strips, rolls and sheets. Our products are manufactured in a large capacity cleanroom facility.

Xen18 formulations maintain dimensional stability while they absorb moisture. Unlike our competitors, Xennovate hydrocolloids expand primarily in the z-dimension, which is precisely what a clinician would prefer, that is, no expansion along the xy-edges of the dressing, which could cause leading through channeling. Xen18 represents a family of patented formulations, which do not disintegrate in heavy exudate. As a result of this improved technology to absorb more and avoid disintegration, Xennovate wound dressings can often be employed even in the treatment of stage four pressure ulcers.

Test Results…

This section presents various test results for Xennovate hydrocolloid ostomy wound dressings, generally in response to questions posed by OEM or converter customers. MDDI, an independent medical device company with expertise in hydrocolloids, guided us in the use of live human skin for adhesion tests instead of the "stainless steel standard" generally employed in the industry, and they conducted various tests comparing xm18c* to off-the-shelf competitors.
